چکیده

Camera self-calibration is an important task in computer vision. In the literature, if the aspect ratio is known, people need additionally zero-skew-assumption to generate a constraint on the image of the absolute conic for camera calibration. However usually camera skew is nonzero and unknown. In this paper, a new quadric constraint on the image of the absolute conic is introduced, which is solely from known aspect ratio. Its application to single-view-based calibration and reconstruction is reported to illustrate its applicability and usefulness. In addition, the new constraint is experimentally shown to be advantageous over the commonly used zero-skew-based constraint in terms of calibration accuracy. 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Recovering the Vanishing Self-Polar Triangle from a Single View of a Planar Pattern

We are concerned with the recovery of the metric structure of the 3D space from the metric structure of a plane, given as the world-plane to image homography. Recent works have pointed out that the metric structure of the 3D space can be defined by a set of three mutually conjugated (vanishing)points with respect to the imaged absolute conic (the vanishingselfpolar triangle) and three additiona...

Combining Scene and Auto-Calibration Constraints

We present a simple approach to combining scene and auto-calibration constraints for the calibration of cameras from single views and stereo pairs. Calibration constraints are provided by imaged scene structure, such as vanishing points of orthogonal directions, or rectified planes. In addition, constraints are available from the nature of the cameras and the motion between views. We formulate ...

Camera Calibration Combining Images with Two Vanishing Points

Single image calibration is a fundamental task in photogrammetry and computer vision. It is known that camera constant and principal point can be recovered using exclusively the vanishing points of three orthogonal directions. Yet, three reliable and well-distributed vanishing points are not always available. On the other hand, two vanishing points basically allow only estimation of the camera ...

Interpreting Sphere Images Using the Double-Contact Theorem

An occluding contour of a sphere is projected to a conic in the perspective image, and such a conic is called a sphere image. Recently, it has been discovered that each sphere image is tangent to the image of the absolute conic at two double-contact image points. The double-contact theorem describes the properties of three conics which all have double contact with another conic. This theorem pr...

Augmented Lagrangian method for solving absolute value equation and its application in two-point boundary value problems

One of the most important topic that consider in recent years by researcher is absolute value equation (AVE). The absolute value equation seems to be a useful tool in optimization since it subsumes the linear complementarity problem and thus also linear programming and convex quadratic programming. This paper introduce a new method for solving absolute value equation. To do this, we transform a...
